EdTech for Good
Transforming Math into an Exciting Learning Adventure
Is it possible to transform education into an exciting adventure for all children?
In the Tashkent region of Uzbekistan, children gather around a screen in an unconventional scene: instead of watching a movie or a football match, they’re deeply engaged in the process of learning mathematics and improving their numeracy skills.
Eduten is a digital math learning platform that combines Finnish educational excellence with gamification and AI, winner of the UNICEF EdTech Award in 2022. The UNICEF Global Learning Innovation Hub is leveraging the educational technology (edtech) behind Eduten to help accelerate equitable access to world-class digital learning tools.
In partnership with governments and UNICEF country offices, the Learning Innovation Hub is piloting Eduten in Uzbekistan, Bhutan and Laos to demonstrate the impact of tech on improving the learning journey of children around the world.
“I’m very happy with the results – since we started using Eduten, my students have improved their math skills and have gotten better scores on the school math tests”.
“A student messaged me in the middle of the night with questions about the exercises in Eduten. When have we seen this type of engagement before?”, says a school teacher in Bhutan. “Even during the holiday break, students are asking me to open more exercises on the platform”, says another in Uzbekistan.
Despite accessibility and connectivity challenges in the pilot areas, Eduten’s promising pilot serves to showcase the importance of building pathways to a future in which learning becomes a fascinating adventure for all children.
Together with partners, the UNICEF Learning Innovation Hub is committed to discovering, co-creating, and scaling innovative approaches and solutions to transform the future of learning.
